About the Home

A Place to Feel Safe, Valued & Understood

Prenton Brook House is a newly reopened residential children's home situated in a quiet, established residential area of Prenton on the Wirral. Under new leadership and with a dedicated team in place, the home provides a nurturing, stable environment for up to four young people aged 8–17 who are children looked after (CLA) and who present with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

The home has been thoughtfully refurbished to create a calm, homely setting where young people can feel genuinely settled, a place that reflects their individuality and supports their growth. Every aspect of the environment, from the communal spaces to the individual bedrooms, has been designed with therapeutic intent.

Our approach is grounded in consistency, compassion and high expectations. We believe that with the right support, every young person can thrive.

Our Approach

Trauma-Informed Care at Every Step

Everything we do at Prenton Brook House is shaped by an understanding of trauma, attachment and the importance of consistent, caring relationships. Our practice model gives young people the safety and structure they need to begin to heal and flourish.

Therapeutic Relationships

Consistent key workers build genuine, trusting relationships with each young person. We recognise that for many young people, learning to trust an adult is itself a significant achievement, and we take that seriously.

Trauma-Informed Practice

Our staff are trained to understand behaviour as communication. Rather than responding to the surface of what we see, we seek to understand the story behind it, and respond with empathy, not just consequence.

Education & Ambition

We work closely with schools, colleges, and alternative education providers to ensure every young person has access to meaningful learning. We champion the ambitions of each individual and actively support their goals.

Structured, Predictable Routines

Safety comes from predictability. Our daily routines provide the kind of structure that helps young people feel in control of their world, while remaining flexible enough to meet individual needs.

Personalised Care Planning

Each young person has a detailed care plan developed in partnership with their placing authority, family where appropriate, and the young person themselves. Plans are reviewed regularly and evolve as needs change.

Community & Identity

We actively support young people to explore their identity, culture and community connections. Whether through hobbies, sport, faith, or family contact, we help them build a life that feels meaningfully their own.
